April to September may be considered the height of wedding season – but more and more and now opting for the cooler months, and here are just some of the reasons why. No clash with peoples summer holidays or kids schedules, No clash with someone elses wedding, No clash with other events (OK, If you opt for Christmas and New Years fortnight, you might get a clash), The cost's can be cheaper (bargain with suppliers!), and more availability of dates at your venues. Of course it has it's disadvantages too, which are the reasons people will more commonly select Summer, but it you plan a Winter Wedding taking into consideration the seasons cold and daylight hours with a positive approach, rather than negative, then a Winter Wedding really can be one of the most romantic. There are so many creative options to play with on decor, favours, wreaths, and most importantly - outfits. Exactly as with Summer Weddings, you should look to Nature for inspiration on your colours. Through Winter the hues we see in Nature include deep greens, berry reds and pinks, mustard yellow, burnt orange, chestnut brown, sage, caramel and of course winter white. Rich Jewel tones like Sapphire Blue, Deep Emerald, Burgundy, Amethyst along with cool grey and frosted blues are also popular for Winter Wedding colours.
The Bridesmaids outfits should reflect the winter festive season. Dress your bridesmaids in sparkling gowns. Don't be afraid of the sparkle. Dresses and accessories can all have some bling embellishment. Choose Winter textures for the Bridesmaids Dress fabrics. Winter offers so much more choice than summer. Crepe, Corded Lace, Taffeta, Velvet, and Beaded dresses are all Winter options. Many in fact will have a combination of two of these fabrics. For the accessories, Fascinators, Sashes, Wrist Corsages, matching Lapel Pins (for the Men), or any mix of these, select feathered accessories instead of flowery numbers. Or maybe designs that incorporate a mix of feathers and winter foliage and berries. If you are getting Married in February, in the USA, you might also consider Mardi Gras colours. Read my Blog specifically for a Mardi Gras Wedding, if need ideas for getting married during the Mardi Gras weeks.

If you’re dreaming of a Fairy-Tale White Christmas Wedding, and all the great photo opportunities the snow will bring, then Silver Sequin or Beaded Bridesmaids dresses will sparkle against the snowy backdrop. Your photos will look like a true dreamy winter wonderland.
Silver and White are the perfect combo for a Fairy-Tale White Christmas wedding. You probably want to make it clear who's the bride, so wouldn't want them wearing all white, but silver is the closest hue, and pairs great with White accessories.
Have an aversion to Silver (not sure why you would), then a frosty pale blue would be the next suggestion.
Be sure to consider your Bridesmaids comfort. Goose pimples and purple fingers don't look great, and you don't want them remembering your wedding as the one where they couldn't feel their fingers and toes. Wrap their shoulders in a Feather or Faux Fur cape that's warm and stylish. They will look stunning and add to the "fairytale" romance of the setting. Complete with accessories also in Silver and White feathers, and keep the shoes closed toes of course.

There is no doubt that Royal Blue Bridesmaid Dresses are eye catching and elegant, and always look regal, but especially in rich winter textures like lace, taffeta, or velvet.
Royal Blue is a colour that will work on nearly all bridesmaids, short or tall, slim or heavy build, fair or dark, blond or brunette..... there are few that will be able to say Royal or Sapphire blue don't work for them. If you are going to encourage Mum to work her Mother of the Bride outfit around the Bridesmaids colours, then you will probably find Mum is happy to work with this colour too.

Burgundy is a popular colour to incorporate in any Winter Wedding but is especially perfect for December / Christmas Weddings. It matches the Winter Berries you'll almost certainly want to incorporate in your floral arrangements, matches the Mulled Wine you'll be serving to keep your guests warm, is stunning against the White of the Brides dress, and pairs well with almost all other Winter Hues (like Deep Green, Chestnut, Conker, and Navy).
For Christmas many will pair Burgundy with the Green for Winter, but I'd choose Gold or Silver for the added Sparkle at Christmas.

Cranberry is a little Pinker and Brighter than the Regal Burgundy. A little more cheery and warming. It looks divine with Gold, Silver, Cream, or Sage, as can see in the Floral crown below.

Nothing says formal winter wear like lush velvet in rich jewel tones. Any deep jewel-toned dress looks stunning at a winter wedding. Mix the tones to add dimensions (below I've used Hunter, Teal and Olive Green together).
